The media plays many roles in the development of autonomy to today's teenager. Ads, commericals, and tv try to make you think and act a certain way; like a tv show could be setting the example that underage drinking is ok. The media is not always bad though. They have the above the influence commericals encouraging teens to not drink and not do drugs. All these things are setting examples for us and putting ideas in our minds what is right and what is wrong.

MEdia plays an incredibly large part in the lives of teenagers, and young people in general. When I was younger, everyone wanted to be a Pokemon Master with real pokemon, have a crazy laboratory with endless inventions, or be really good at skated-boarding or surfing. Pokemon, Dexter's Laboratory, and Rocket Power. These were three shows that greatly influenced the games I played at recess, the stuff I did with friends, and my aspirations for when I was older. But, time goes, people mature, and the shows we watch change. Media hasn't ost its effect on me or other kids like me, as we grew up, the newer and more mature shows influenced us as well, and they still do. Kids want to be amazing doctors like Gregory House, they want to have awesome rooms like in Cribs, they want shallow relationships based on physicality like we hear about in songs. The signs are all around that show how the media influences teenagers, you just have to keep your eyes and ears open.

In the development of autonomy to today's teenager, the media can have positive and negative results. Teens can use T.V. shows, movies, music, and magazines to decide on what's right, wrong, or fun to do. Some show drinking, smoking, and heavy partying as positive things to do when others show the negative consequences of those activities.

Media plays a significant role in the development of shaping the lives of teenagers today whether right or wrong. The media which comes in a variety of forms from the radio, TV, internet, magazines, etc. can influence a teenager to grow up and act in certain ways. I personally feel that the media has become filthy in what it is they are trying to influence teenagers to think is ok. Movies and TV shows today are filled with sex, drugs, and alcohol influences. Even songs are being used to degrade women and what they offer. Although the media plays in this role of shaping the lives of teenagers, it is ultimately the teenager who makes the final decision to follow what it is portraying as a part in forming and finding themselves.

Media plays a very vital role in the teenager of today. Wheither its the T.V., magazines, or the internet the media is a constant influence to teenages. They create a an image that most teenagers must be like. It causes teenages to not really open up and be themselves but instead turn into a robot of society. This often causes kids to be picked on if they arent forming to the typical teenager that is portrayed in the media.

I feel that the media only plays a minor role in the development of teenagers today. Though lyrics of songs and messages in movies might come off as a very bad influence, I don't think that teenagers are heavily influenced by it. Ultimately, I feel like teenagers are influenced by what their friends do more than anything. It's not even always peer pressure, but rather just doing it because everyone else is. Developing a person comes more from experience and relationships with people rather than just seeing or hearing it. That's all :)

I feel like the media plays a significant role in society and has a lot of influence on teenagers. People watch T.V., listen to the radio, read magazines, etc. as a part of their everyday life. As a society, we feel as though we have to look, act, and grow up a certain way. Everybody wants to fit in and therefore teenagers today have less independence from one another. Rather than concentrating on being our own person, and who we really truly are, we worry about silly things like wearing the current trends and styles, or doing things such as drinking and smoking just because we think it looks cool.

I believe the media plays a small role to teenagers today. Most of what teenagers learn and develop come from what is surrounding them everyday, such as friends and family. Maybe one or two things they see on TV or in a magazine they will pick up, but I feel like it's mostly what is around them most the day. Especially teenagers who play sports, they rarely have time to see what the media is saying or showing.

I believe the media does have an influence on teenagers but in some ways a greater one than others. For example, magazines give you advice on sex but I also agree with Sara when she says that, although they may have somewhat of an influence on teens, I don't believe that things such as song lyrics and movies have as large of an effect on them as some people may think because teens don't read as much into things that are said and done like others may believe.

In today's society more than ever, the media plays a large part in the way teenagers view themselves and the world around them. So many teens want to be like the celebrities or professional athletes they see on tv or in movies and magazines. They want to look like them or buy the products they endorse or have their seemingly glamorous lives. What we watch and read sticks in our mind and can influence many of the choices teens make. Instead of just using their own good judgement, teens use the reasoning that they saw something in the media about it and therefore it must be a good decision. Teens are no longer who they are solely because of who they see themselves as; many are also who the media tells them they should be.

The media today has a larger role in a teenager's autonomy than it has ever before. Social networking sites such as facebook tend to hurt a teen's autonomy by bringing forth distractions to one's goal, such as completing a homework assignment. However, sites such as facebook also connect teens with other teens, which although is good, it has tendencies for teens to have the mindset of a clique instead of an individual. In terms of music and media, teens are often found bound to conform to what is currently trending, and tend to avoid complete autonomy, for they are highly motivated by the media. For example, a current group of socialites that are constantly being modeled after in the "tween" society is the cast of the hit show : Jersey Shore. The effect of these people is very noticeable ( i.e. facebook nicknames , hair styles, and the outlook on life being modeled after these people). Due to media, the autonomy of teens today is diminished in order to conform and fit in the crowd.

The media plays a huge role in shaping teenagers. It happens everyday starting from such young ages. We listen to songs degrading women and talking about sex, alcohol and drugs. We watch television shows like secret life of the american teenager, teen mom, and true life-talking about the bad things people deal with. And we are somewhat shaped in video games, the clothes women wear, the shooting and killing. We are shaped by everything in our lives, but it is only yourself who make yourself the person you are. We all have the same influences, it is the way we take our influences to form ourselves to the amazing people we are today.

I believe that media has a large impact on the autonomy of teenagers today. Many teenagers base their opinions and views on what they experience through their environment. The media is everywhere. Teenagers experience the media everyday through social networking websites, television, and the radio. We unintentionally conform to the media because it is all we experience.

Teens have to be very careful about the media. The shows you watch, the music you listen to, and the magazines and books you read will subtly influence your political ideology, your behavior, and even your way of thinking. By listening to trashy music, you find yourself eventually thinking that the actions described in the lyrics is acceptable in polite society. The books you read can either advance or detract from your maturity.
The media can be either help or hinder a teen's autonomy. By allowing the negative influences to control your decisions, it hinders you; by choosing positive influences, it will further your autonomy. Really, it's up to the individual to discern between the two; and their choices will reflect their maturity and autonomy.

Media has a large impact on teenagers today. more teenagers are influenced by Facebook, myspace, twitter, TV, youtube, internet, music, and so much more. These influences could be good or bad. This media most definatelty helps develop autonomy in teenagers. Media even effects our school work. It can be used for good in the movement to go paperless (like this class) yet at the same time it can have a negative aspect because we are on the internet and when we get distracted there is always media to take our attention away from homework, school, grades, and friends. Media can have good and bad aspecrts in developing the autonomy of teenagers.

The media has a huge role when it comes to the teenagers of today. If the media portrays a certain thing as "cool" or "in" the everyday teenager will do anything to fit in with the new trend that the media started. The teenagers are now being forced to conform into something that their not, therefor leaving the opportunity of individuality behind. Very few teenagers choose to be themselves in our present society.

The media impacts our youth very heavily in this day and age. Because they put out everything that happens in athletes, actors, musicians, etc. lives. The good and the bad, so when the younger kids who dont know any better might just do what their idol does. So if your favorite musician overdoses on drugs and dies, the kids going to think oh he does it I want to be just like them. Or if their favorite athelet is holding out to get a bigger contract. The kid is going to think if they can skip work cause they dont like the amount of money they make. I can skip school cause I dont like the amount of homework i get.

Today, the media plays a variety of roles in the development of a teenager's autonomy. Teens are always looking for the next best thing, and as a result, can be very vulnerable to advertisements on tv, in the newspaper, or on billboards along the side of the road. These advertisements may not hold our best interests; therefore, we need to stop and think about what is best for us before we take any actions. We are the only ones who know what is in our best interest, not the media.

I believe that the media is extremely influential in the development of the autonomy of todays teenagers. We all know that what teens gather from the media (on tv shows, in movies, and on the radio) greatly influences the way they act and the decisions they make. The media also captures the glamorous lives of the rich and famous, and many teens look up to these people. They think that just because someone famous did it or has it anyone can. They not only think they can do it/have it but they think its right. The media makes bad decisions seem justifiable by showing someone famous doing it and promotes this bad decision making to teens across the world. However, as intelligent teens we should all be able to choose right from wrong and think for ourselves no matter how glamourous things appear in the media.

The media today greatly affects the development of teenagers. The media can give both positive and negative influences. Many people see things on tv shows, advertisements, magazines, etc. and think that because it's on tv and celebrities are doing it that it is ok. Just because you see something in the media does not mean that it is the right thing to do. We need to make choices for ourselves based on our own judgement.

The media is very influential in the development of the autonomy of teenagers today. Teenagers spend a great deal of time watching tv shows, reading magazines and seeing things on the internet. The media is persuading teenagers to do certain things but usually these things are not good. Since we watch tv and see what celebrities are doing we are convinced it is ok. Everyone needs to not pay so much attention to the media and needs to develop who they are without the bad influences surrounding them.

I also believe that the fact negative influence is established because they try and follow what they see because they think it is "cool" when really it will just end up hurting them. I would like to present the argument that the role the media plays is not as harmful as many people say it is. This does NOT mean I believe we should use television and advertisement figures as role models, but instead means we should take the information inside our environment with a grain of salt. Just because you watch Family Guy doesn't mean you are going to repeat the inappropriate content you see because chances are, you watch the show for entertainment purposes only. So back to the question about influencing teens. I feel it is only right for me to speak for myself on this issue, and i personally do not find the content of the media to have much ruling on my life.

When we were younger and growing up we were so excited to get a new barbie doll and play with the 300 other ones we had, or play outside, or even play dress up with our parents old clothes. Now, all i see are kids connected to all the game systems that i can't even begin to figure out how to work. Teenagers today have technology influences us every second. We're either texting, twetting, facebook chatting, bbming or calling each other constantly. I know i am at least. Our cell phones are constantly attached at our hips and we can't live without being in touch with tons of people at all times. Unfortuantly, that perfect life on the tv is not real and it never will be. The kids that watch these tv shows and commercials never realize that though so they go on trying to be something that never can be. This certaintly affects the autonomy of today's youth

The media plays a huge part in the way teens act today. They see the people on t.v. or in a magazine and depending on their first impression of the scene, will either emulate their actions or avoid them. For example, some girls may look at a skinny model and think wow I should look like that. While others may see the girl and think ew I never want to look that sickly. So I feel that the media helps to make each person's opinions and ultimately it is up to us to decide how we act.

The clothes we wear, the way we speak, the activities we participate in are all effected by what the media says is 'in'. Media plays a very important role in today's society. It influences everyone's lives either in a positive or negative way. If you're too involved in the media and what's "cool" or not, then it can be harmful. Listening to other people too much can cause you to lose your own voice. However, media can play a very positive and helpful role in people's lives. If you're watching the news and socializing with friends every now and then, the media can help you. It can keep you informed and updated with what's happening around your local community and the world. In my opinion the media plays a major role in today's teenage society. I think that especially for girls and maybe even boys that the ideal image of perfect affects how they act. The image of being thin, beautiful, and pretty much perfect makes people sometimes go to extreme measures, such as eating disorders, and other ways to make them feel like they fit in or measure up to the image of perfection. In some ways the media affects teenagers in a good way. They can show the consequences of bad behavior. The stories in the news about kids killing kids, threatening, bullying, and all other negative actions can influence or encourage kids to do the right thing and be above the influence.

In two different ways, it has shown us the good side of the fact that it is a great thing to spend time with your family and friends, as well as that love is an amazingly powerful thing. But on the down side the media has showed us many things that are not so great as in the world becoming corrupt and the movies showing us the terrible ways the world has treated minorities. Media definately plays a role in the shaping of a teenagers autonomy. There are many ways tv can shape a teen because they might think that a movie actor is their role model. Some television commercials also show negative and postive things that a teen could see and take in many different ways. Also some radio stations might shape a teenagers autonomy. In the end though I think it is a persons choice on how they take in all of the media that surrounds us.

Media will always play a role in our thinking even if it is very small. I believe that for those that sit in front of the T.V. and play video games or are on facebook for multiple hours a day can be hugely affected by the messages and the actions portrayed in these outlets. However, I believe that the types of relationships we have and are in determine how we perceive these messages. If someone is surrounded by a loving family and healthy relationships then I think they are more likely to choose the right and wrong portraits (what is right and wrong is a whole other topic) whereas someone in a difficult family life and maybe not so supportive friends is looking for guidance and trying to learn about life while using only what's available to them, i.e. the media.

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that the media plays impacts the lives of teenagers today, it's just my personal opinion that as young adults, we take in what we want to. We choose to accept the pressures of the media, pressures such as what clothes you should wear, what music you should listen to, even down to the deodorant you buy. Most people choose to blame the media for their conformity to the status quo, and for some people I suppose that's "okay." Yes, when you were younger you wanted to be just like the main character in your favorite TV show, but back then you also didn't know better. My point is simply this, we are young adults able to make our own decisions on what we deem is healthy and acceptable.

looking through time, i've noticed that teenagers are the same. So hoe come people say that the media plays such a big role in our us teenagers act and shape our future? Teenagers are always rambunctious, loud, crazy, sex-crazed, outgoing, fun, but also smart (in a certain way), emotional, helpful, moving, and passionate people. Personnally, i do not think that the media play a big role on how i choose things and live my life. Sure, we've changed over time with different fashion and lingo, but every generation says that the next generation is worse. That's just saying that i'm better cause i'm older kind of deal. I personally believe that the friends we hang out with and family we have drive us to who we become and who we want to be. The media is just the stuff that entertains us part of the time.

The media effects teenagers in different ways, many of teens watch mtv and listen to rap music and often times they see this unrealistic "perfection" that is on the tv that they have to strive for. This really makes a lot of people self conscious because they feel they're too fat, too ugly, their hair isn't blah blah blah (well this is mainly for the girls). And than the guys think they have to be some jacked dude who acts like a total ... to everyone he meets. Most kids just want to fit in, and no matter what that is, they will do it. Thats why media usually has a pretty negative effect on a teens autonomy.

I believe that the media has more of a direct affect on us(teens) than we really believe or know. What I mean by this is we may not be able to physically put words on the effects it has on us. Its effects are rooted in us since we have been able to see and hear or possibly even before this. The media can make you act differently with friends, family, teachers, or work associates, etc. This can possibly be a positive effect, but there are surely negative ones to go along side the positive ones. I can not even say the effects it has on me, the list would probably be endlesss. The fact is, as teenagers we are most in tune with the media than most adults, we probaby care about it more than most as opposed to other age groups, and we have grown up with it everywhere in everyday life around us, therefore I am not hesistant to say that the media takes a MAJOR role in shaping who we are and who we will become.

I think that media can be a bitter sweet thing. There are so many different ways that media affects teenagers especially. We are constantly seeing shows and commercials with "ideal" people in them. They have the so-called "perfect body", "perfect hair", or are having a "fun time". We get so caught up in thinking that this is reality.. if they're doing it why shouldn't we? Teens are ready to give into anything just to attempt to fit in. This will give me attention because everyone knows the commercial so obviously it must be pretty cool. Teens don't develop the right way anymore because there is such a heavy influence from the media. They can immediately warp reality into something any person would want. It is so sad to see the negative affects media can have on people. Now going along with this, it can also help prevent people from bad things such as above the influence or other parts of the media. If only we would see more of the good in the world that is occurring than all of the killing. With the way in which media becomes reality, if we just showed all good, maybe everyone would start to learn that we can be an altruistic society.

The media today can be good or bad depending on what you're watching. Most shows and ads today promote stereotypes like dumb blonds and athletes, super smart nerds, and other racial/gender cliches. However, there are above the influence and anti drunk driving ads that air on TV on channels that are mostly geared for teenagers and young adults. I think the media can really influence people because when people see things they think are cool or funny we repeat them. I think everyone has quoted a movie or song at sometime or other, and that shows how the media can present things in a way that makes them stick in your mind.

Modern media definitely plays a huge role in the way teenagers live their lives today. It's very hard in today's society to turn on the t.v., or pick up a magazine, and not be bombarded with messages on how we should look, act, and speak. As teenagers we are like sponges, because we tend to absorb certain things into our daily lives without even noticing it. From the television shows that we watch, to the music we listen to, we are influenced whether we accept it or not. Eventhough media plays such a significant role in our day to day lives, at the end of the day it is ultimatley our descion to live the life that we want to live. No matter what we see or what we hear noone can shape you the way that you can shape yourself.

I believe the media plays both a positive and negative role espacially on younger kids as well as teens. When i was young, the most fun i had was playing tag, hide and go seek, and going for bike rides. Now, kids are attached to video games, cell phones, iPods, gameboys, etc. I feel like they tend to miss out on their childhood. Teens are influenced most by the media. Cell phones and any form of technology are a must. Also i feel like teens dont realize sometimes that they try to be like 'hollywood' role models when in reality thats not who they are at all.

The role the media plays in the developement of autonomy to today's teenager recently has not been a good one. A fine example of this is the influence TV shows have on people in the subject of prejudice. In recent episodes of South Park released an episode where they constantly made fun of redheads and labeled them as "gingers". Since then constant harassment has been bestowed upon Ryan Fogarty and myself. This would never have started if the media did not play a part in this.

I believe that the media influences the youth today in a very big way. Facebook being the most popular social networking site, teenagers often base their opinions and make their choices through what their friends are doing, and facebook makes it that much easier to follow peers. As far as music, movies, and tv go I think that type of media has a lesser effect on the autonomy of teenagers because most of us understand that our lives are not like the movies. Peer pressure comes from personal contact within today's youth and not so much the entertainment world.

The role of the media plays in the development of autonomy to today's teenager is very bad. You can find about everything you want or need to know on the internet today. You could find awnsers to a test on the internet. Todays teenager's are learning to utellize the internet to cut out the work. This means that at a young age kids are being tought that cheating is okay. Our generation has so many temptations in front of us its hard to resist.

The media can play many different roles in the development of autonomy to today's teenagers, both possitive and negative. Looking at all the various types of media, each may portray the same message to their viewers in different ways. For example, something you may here on the radio may have a lesser effect than something you can actually see on the television. All these forms of media can play with one's head, saying something is good and then turning right around and expressing the negatives to that same subject. The safest thing for one to do is to go with what you know and feel is right. Listening to the media one hundred percent can only cause problems.

The media plays a very important role in the lives of today's teenagers. Songs influence many of the things that we do. They can influence anywhere from our feelings over to the choices that we may make. The things we here from media on television can influence a teenager on things such as what we buy and what we think that we must have in order to be accepted by other. Overall however it seems that the media mainly influences how we socially interact with one another. We often include things subtly in our personalities that portray aspects of the media that we have been exposed to.

Media in the present day can act out reality. False statements or motives can be taken from these messages. In creating your own self-independence, perceiving these lies helps to set your real life straight. Acceptance of another comes from how you can fit into their life. With entering your role as a subject, there are always others watching. We must learn to see perspectives from the heart.

I think the media world has a huge impact on todays teenage society. All of us spend a lot of time on facebook, watching TV, videogames, and going to movies. Media has created this image of how people should be. Especially for girls, the image of being thin and "beautiful" is something that is very stressed in our society. I think that a lot of times we act the way we see our role models acting on TV or in movies, etc. When we are surrounded by this constant stress to be someone we see in movies, magazines, or on TV it often takes a toll on who we really are. I think if we took a step away from the gossip magazines, and the reality TV shows, we can find out a lot about ourselves, that maybe we never realized.

The media plays a huge role in the development of autonomy in today's teenagers. Magazine, newspaper, and tv ads seem to shape the way teenagers view themselves. We find it hard to govern our morals when we see advertisements all around us promoting sex, drugs, or alcohol. These advertisements try to appeal to teenagers and pry us away from our moral standards by depicting other teenagers doing it. Unfortunately, teenagers easily give in to peer pressure and often do whatever it takes to fit in even if we know its wrong. Another example of the media's effect on a teenagers autonomy would be the pop music that we constantly hear these days. Every song seems to promote sex, drugs and alcohol which makes it even tougher for teenagers to stay away from these issues. Overall, media negatively impacts the development of teenagers' autonomy today.

The media has a huuuuge impact on teens today. there is so much pressure to be perfect and look flawless and be something that no one really can be. The media portrays images of how people should act and look in order to be happy and accepted. no one is truly flawless (or at least how the media defines flawless). So if people stopped being so consumed by unnessesary things like tv and the internet then they'd be alot happier with themselves and feel alot less pressure to conform to what the media says.

The media plays a very significant role in teenagers' development nowadays. No one needs original thought anymore. The media tells us what to wear, how to act, and what music we should listen to if we want to be cool. No one starts trends anymore, the media starts them all. If someone wants to be "cool", all they have to do is watch the most popular music videos and wear some really expensive, brand-name clothes. Its ridiculous how no one can think for themselves anymore.

Media is really influential for all teenagers, and I don't know why. Why do we care what the most popular song is or what a certain celebrity wears? Why can't we all listen to, watch, wear, drink, and think like we want to? Like I said, I don't know why. Although the importance of media has increased, it isn't a new concept. Most people have always wanted to conform because it's easier that way.

Media plays a role in teen autonomy every day. Everything the media is effects us in one way or another. The different shows we watch and like can shape our ideals of what we want to do. For some reason, we all seem to want the same things: a lot of money, a big house filled with tons of stuff we don't need. We want those things because the media keeps jamming all of that stuff into our life and making us think that's what makes everyone happy. The media thinks they know all about each and every one of us. We are all different and each of us, despite media ideals, has something different that makes us happy with who we are.

Of course, media plays a huge role in the formation of our autonomy. Be it in television, internet, or elsewhere, the media is an integral part of many people's daily routines. It can be negative, but in today's world where the average teen knows a good deal about media influence and credibility, they can often choose what sources they want to influence them. As such, media can help us to explore interests and flesh out beliefs

The media plays a large role in todays society. In my opinion it has the biggest impact when people are young because when were older we take in what we want. At a young age we do what we see. There are both negative and positive influences. Negative influences are instantly looked at as music, tv, and video games. These all have disclaimers on them though so if parents allow their young children to view and listen its their responsibilty to stop them.

I think the media plays a huge role in the poeple us, as teenagers, are today. We basically revolve our lives around it. Its either listening to the most undated music or watching tv.. we are always doing something connected to the media or technology. I spend my money yearly on certain magazines and on different concerts I want to see. I watch the news every morning for weather, or I look it up online. Every morning I listen to the radio. I don't neccessarily think they are negative influences, I just use the advantage of media a lot in my life. If i didn't have the media I wouldn't have a lot of the sources I use today for information.

I think that media has a huge impact on the autonomy of today's teenagers. I think that the media makes teens feel bad about themselves. They show off a stereotype of teens doing inappropriate activities. The media makes teens feel bad if they are not just like those on TV or in songs. The media drives teens to do these inappropriate activities because their autonomies have been lowered and they feel that this is the only way to boost it back up.

The media holds the greatest impact on a teenager in today's world. Especially MTV. Especially Jersey Shore. A teenager watches tv, listen to music, and surfs the internet more often than they do their homework, and everything they see/do in their activities shapes themselves, drives them to become whatever they want to be. The media is all around us, providing us with (often biased) information which in turn we interpret and evolve those events/ideas into our brain. Those signals can be the smallest amount of information, but can still have a huge impact on how we behave.

Media seems to play an important role in affecting teenagers today. This influence, however, seems to be toward the negative side. If we turn on the tv or go read a magazine we tend to see teenage behavior that is inappropriate. By seeing inappropriate behavior on tv, we begin to think that the behavior is ok and is accepted. If you compared the negative tv ads to the positive ones, you would see at least 3x as many negative ads and tv shows. Sadly, this has become accepted in our society.

The media plays a very large role when it comes to teenagers. The media tries to tell us who we should be, what size we should be, what we should buy, what music we should listen to, etc. It's such a huge role in the average teenager's life, that it's hard to ignore it! For younger people it has a greater affect on them, I believe. At my age, people are going to be who they want to be no matter what the media portrays as being "cool". It would be great if the media could have more of a positive affect on people today, but it all seems to have a negative affect. Then again, you don't have to listen to the media at all (even though it's difficult to not notice it).

Woops. I didnt mean to send that without any message. Anyway I think that media is a huge part of teenage life today in both positive and negative ways. There are so many songs and movies that show drinking smoking and breaking the law as fun and O.K. things to do. They make it seem that if you do those things you will be thought of as a cool person and rarely do they show the bad things that could happen if you choose to do those things. Also alot of current songs ,especially rap, every other word is a swear word, also a bad influence. So obviously all of those things are bad things but there are positive influences as well. It has been proven that some of the "teen pregnancy" shows have been a form of birth control for female teens today. Which is a good thing. Also some movies where the "nerd" ends up getting all the glory at the end is also positive because it shows teens that you dont always need to be the most popular to suceed in life. So I think that the media plays a huge role in teen autonomy today.

As a teen i personally know that celebrities influence a lot of what we do. Girls feel the need to be a certain weight just because that is what media tells them. Not only is media negative though, often times people can learn from it. Such as the teen prgnancy shows which proves how hard it is to raise children at a young age. More often then ever media is entering our lives so we need to learn from things others do rather then follow.

For example, you see all these celebrities who are sickly skinny and young girls and teens looking up to these people make these teens self conscience and they start to think something is wrong with them. The media creates such confidence issues with teenagers, especially girls. What the media doesn't understand is that it creates self esteem issues for todays teenagers such as if your not a size two or don't have fancy cars. Media plays a huge role in todays teenagers.

I feel that the media does play a huge role in the develpoment of teenagers and even younger kids in our generation. Alot of their role models are on TV, styling a certain brand of clothing, or are in the paper for commiting a crime. When they see them, they think that it happens all the time and if there "role model" can do it, then why can't they. So many young people these days are watching violent shows and R rated movies that really do just disrupt them and their thought process. Then when they become teenagers they seem like they already know about this stuff so they have to experiment with new things to have fun. At times though, I also think that the media is trying to prevent certain problems in our society like underaged drinking and the use of drugs through abovetheinmfluece and other such organizations.

Today's media, including the internet, TV, Music, and even ads play a big role in the development of autonomy in the typical teenager. In today's media, teenagers get a variety of influences that may or may not be bad. For example, some shows like jersey shore or grey's anatomy may promote sex, underage drinking, and smoking. Other shows, like the Secret Life of the American Teenager, promote good and well thought out choices. There is a constant bombardment of false values and superficial goals. With so many of these shows displaying the same message, a teen can become influenced and accept this artificial message of what a teen should be.Many teens feel forced to conform to this notion of normality in order to fit in with their peers. However, media can only influence a teen. Media has some effect one who a person is or how they act or what decisions they make, but the biggest thing that effects one's autonomy is their freinds or who they are around all day. It can be proven too, people change when they get into high school not only because they are maturing, but because they are around new people. Friends all have the same inside jokes and all act the same way because they are influencing eachother to do it. Media may have played a role in effecting the way one person in a group of friends, and the friends may be copying off of that person, thus the media is effecting one's autonomy.

The media is what it is and no one can change it, it's always been around in some form and if it wasn't there people would be influenced heavily by something else. It's even more terrifying to think of what teenagers would be like if they weren't influenced by the media and left to follow only what their parents or some other singular source told them. At least there's some variety in the media and kids can chose to be somewhat of an individual
Media is major everyday occurance in the lives of all people. Everyday we listen to music, watch the news, check the weather, go on fbook!, research etc. etc. etc. Teenagers love the media we all like to keep up with what's new and hot and out there; but when it comes down to our autonomy I think it depends on the person how much they are influenced by it. Some people are influences majorly by the media and others are effected little. Personally, I use the media for many reasons whether it infuences me I can't really say but it does open my eyes to the good and bad of the world. Overall I use music as an escape, tv as a distraction and the internet for research/info. In the end, I think that teens ulimately make the choice whether they want to follow the trends of the media or make their own.
The media sends messages that change how teenagers act, Typically, the media only show good looking and physically fit people. This might make a person worry too much about looks. Tehy might become overly obsessive with their preconceived notions of attractiveness. Also the media allows teenagers to comunicate with each other with the tough of a button. This can be both positive and negative to their social lives.

Media plays a huge role in everything we do. Things that we do and say are based off of what we got from different media outlets growing up. If you listened at all swearing in the music you listened to you may swear all the time. If you watched shows that said alcohol or drugs were okay all the time you might not think twice when doing them. Growing up we have tons of media outlets, that can be good and bad for us but I have to say it isn't the only that affects the way we are today.

Media plays a very significant role in the autonomy of teenagers. THe shaping of teenagers starts even before the age of 13. When children are watching televison or listening to music and they hear certain things that they believe to be acceptable in society they are exposed to it numerous times. Overall, they grow up to find things such as drugs, alcohol, and sex as acceptable behavior.

Media plays a large role in the autonomy of today's teenager. Every time you turn on the tv or radio you hear things that are explicit or seen as usually misbehaving behavior and it is seen as funny or acceptable. When children see this they believe its okay and continue to do what they see.
